JOHN MASKEY
John was born in South Texas. He currently resides outside of
Comfort, Texas. John, who has been a full time
professional artist
since 1977, trained formally at the Hunter School of Art in San Antonio.
He has studied additionally with nationally prominent
watercolorists including Millard Sheets, John Pike, Robert E Wood, Zoltan
Szabo, Charles Reid and Edgar Whitney.
John enters numerous
invitational shows yearly and is represented by galleries throughout the
Southwest.
He has been the
featured artist in Southwest Art, Art Voices,
and American Artist. John prefers to paint the land and the
people of
Texas, Mexico,
and the Southwest. "The unique character of the land and people of
the Southwest is rooted in
powerful traditions. The blending of
cultures, rugged landscape and classically simple architecture are
timeless.
I hope to capture some of this feeling in my paintings."
